WASHINGTON, November 17, 2004 The
Order Sons of Italy in America (OSIA) is deeply
saddened to learn of the death of Ambassador Thomas
M. Foglietta.
Mr.
Foglietta was a dedicated public servant, whose
life and work brought honor to his Italian heritage.
His career spanned a half-century, taking him from
Philadelphia’s city council to
the United States House of Representatives to the
U.S. Embassy in Rome where he served as our ambassador
under the Clinton administration.
OSIA
strongly supported his candidacy for ambassador
and is proud of the fact that Amb. Foglietta was
a member of the Sons of Italy for nearly 50 years.
We
hope that future generations will appreciate his
contributions and that young Italian Americans
will be inspired by his example.
The Order Sons of Italy in America (OSIA) is the largest and oldest national organization in the U.S. for men and women of Italian heritage. Founded in 1905, today it has 600,000 members and supporters and a network of more than 700 lodges or chapters coast to coast.
